Mansa Musa was a Muslim king of the Mali empire who lived from 1280-1337. During the time Mansa Musa ruled, Mali became the richest kingdom of all time. The amount of gold the Mali empire at the time had summed up to $400 billion dollars! Unaware of Mali's great power, Mansa Musa made a big pilgrimage (hajj) to Makkah to share the riches of Mali in 1324. He died in 1337 and his kingdom lost much power.
